It has a very simple design and it can be used by anyone thanks to its many preset profiles, each with a detailed description. If you don't find any preset profile that suits your needs, you can create a custom profile and configure it how you see fit.
The profiles vary from those optimized for writing documents, spreadsheets and presentations to the ones which cater to gaming and high performance. I selected the high-performance mode; I didn't expect the program to have that much of an effect on my system, but after activating it a lot of background programs were shut down, I had more RAM memory available and when I tested it in a game I actually got 5 FPS more than what I normally get. I was pleasantly amazed with the results of the optimization. I then checked the exact opposite profile to see if that would have any changes on my system. After I ran the power saving profile I could see that my CPU and GPU fan speeds went down 300-400 RPM, which meant that their core temperature went down because the overall performance of the computer was reduced.
In conclusion the AMD Fusion Utility for Desktops definitely works very well and can improve your system performance, or can decrease it to save power.
